Hypertext:

The term hypertext describes “text which provides a network of links to other texts that are ‘outside, above and beyond’ itself” (Lister 23). It can also be defined as a work which consists of several discrete units of material. Each of these units is then connected to many other units through pathways. Hypertext is one of the key characteristics of new media. It is facilitated by digitality and  contributes to interactivity.
